Frequently asked questions
What was the prize for this contest?
$50,000.
Seriously?
Yep.
What currency is the $50,000?
US Dollars.
Can I still enter?
Nope, the contest was open during the Black Friday promotional period, between November 25th at 11:00 AM Eastern Standard Time and November 28th at 12:59 AM Eastern Standard Time. You can learn more at dbrand.com/blackfriday.
What were the entry requirements?
Every time you spent $50.00 USD on our shop during the Black Friday promotional period, you would have been granted one entry to win. Each eligible $50.00 USD spend would have generated you one electronic ballot ID. If you spent more than $50.00 USD during our Black Friday promotional period, check your email - the Order Receipt we sent included your eligible ballot ID(s).
For the sake of clarity, below is a list of example purchase values and how many eligible ballot entries would have been gained by a customer making the example purchase:
- $49.99 = zero eligible ballot entries.
- $50.00 = one eligible ballot entry.
- $50.01 = one eligible ballot entry.
- $100.00 = two eligible ballot entries.
- $150.00 = three eligible ballot entries.
Was there a No Purchase Necessary entry method?
Of course! To enter without having made a purchase, you could have sent us a paper ballot, available here.
When will a winner be drawn?
January 1st, 2017 at 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. We'll be publishing the winner on this page and also announcing it on Twitter.
Why are you waiting so long to draw a winner?
We're ensuring that all paper ballot entries have a chance to arrive before drawing a winner.
Was the contest open worldwide?
Of course.
How are you drawing a winner?
Each eligible $50.00 spend generated a unique ballot ID. Additionally, each No Purchase Necessary mail-in ballot that arrives will be assigned its own unique ballot ID. Each ballot ID represents a distinct record in our database table. From this pool of unique ballot IDs, a random entry is picked using a randomly generated seed based on the NumPy project. This random selection is the resulting winner.
