Of course you don't. Again, the selection is 100% random. In fact, many of the winners that were randomly selected had zero followers before we posted a link to their Instagram page for everyone to see.

The reason every winner has followers after we post their Instagram link is because there are hundreds of thousands (sometimes more than a million) users who visit this page every day. Just like yourself, many end up clicking on the profiles of the winners and some even end up following.

Of course - the random selection doesn't discriminate against participants in any way. All we'd ask is that you post proof of prize receipt somewhere that is publicly visible. This ensures that the authenticity and verification of the giveaway remains transparent.

We're using a custom Python script which was specifically programmed for this giveaway. It uses the Instagram API Platform to download a list of all @dbrand and @UnboxTherapy followers.

Once the full lists have been loaded, the script generates a list of IDs which exist on both lists. This ensures that the potential winner is following both accounts.

From this pool of unique account IDs, a random entry is picked using a randomly generated seed based on the NumPy project. This random pick is the resulting winner.

For every subsequent winner selection, the script will run again. This triggers the Instagram API Platform followed-by fetch again. The script will download the newest followers and keep going until it reaches the followers which were downloaded during the previous run. What this does is save us from having to download a full list of followers every time a winner is selected \u2013 while also ensuring that everyone is included and has an equal chance of winning for each random draw.

First off, use common sense. If someone DMs you from an account other than @totallytherealdbrand asking for your password and credit card information, it\u2019s obviously a scam. Don't reply to any DMs (Direct Messages), Instagram comments, or even tweets saying you've won, unless they come from the official @dbrand. Furthermore, never give out your credit card information or Instagram password to anyone... especially not to any account asking you to \u201ccover the shipping fees.\u201d We'll never ask for this. The best way to avoid getting scammed is to check this page when a new winner has been announced. If you see your account name listed under Winners, click the link to ensure it's actually your Instagram account. If it really is your account, congratulations! Check your Instagram inbox for further instructions.
