We're using a custom Python script which was specifically programmed for this giveaway. It uses the YouTube Data API to download all comments posted on the giveaway video, as well as the associated account for each comment.

While a full list of the comments is being downloaded, a second list of unique YouTube accounts is being generated. Once this process is finished, we are left with a complete list of all accounts which have posted one or more comments.

From this pool of unique accounts, a random entry is picked using a randomly generated seed based on the NumPy project. This random selection is the resulting winner. We then use the stored YouTube Data to fetch the associated account details (Comment ID, Name, Channel URL).

For every subsequent winner selection, the script will run again. This triggers the YouTube API comment download process again. The script will download the newest comment posted and keep going until it reaches the comments which were downloaded during the previous run. What this does is save us from having to download 1,000,000+ comments every time we select a winner \u2013 while also ensuring that everyone is included for each randomly selected draw.

Note that our script filters out multiple comments which are posted by the same account to ensure that every participant gets a fair shot at winning.
